- Organised by the Museo Nacional del Prado and Fundación Iberdrola España, with the collaboration of the Junta de Castilla-La Mancha, the exhibition will tour eight cities in the region with the aim of promoting knowledge and cultural identity of the country’s historical heritage.

Fundación Iberdrola España has transferred its successful cultural initiative “El Prado in the streets” to Toledo.
This project aims to promote knowledge, dissemination and communication of the collections and the cultural identity of the historical heritage attached to the Prado Museum, favouring the development of educational programmes and cultural dissemination activities.
It also aims to virtually recreate the experience of visiting the Museum by allowing visitors to contemplate the paintings in their real dimensions, experiencing an experience similar to that of being in front of an authentic work of art.
Until 25 December, the exhibition, which was inaugurated this morning by Andrés Úbeda, Deputy Director of Conservation and Research at the Museo Nacional del Prado, Fernando García, President of the Fundación Iberdrola España, and Rosa Ana Rodríguez, Regional Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of the Regional Government of Castile-La Mancha in Toledo, will bring 50 of the most important works from the Museum’s Permanent Collection to the people of Toledo through life-size photographic reproductions – adjusted to the dimensions of the exhibition panels (184 x 122 cm. )-, located in the Paseo del Miradero, one of the most emblematic spaces in the city.
This large open-air exhibition, curated by Fernando Pérez Suescun, Head of Educational Content at the Prado Museum, will allow visitors to take a tour of the different schools that make up the artistic panorama of the Prado’s permanent collection and to learn about the history of Spain, Europe and Western art in general through the great masters of painting. The Spanish, Italian, Flemish, French, German and Dutch schools will be represented by their leading figures from the 12th century to the early 20th century.
The exhibition also has bilingual information panels for each of the works and panels, also bilingual, which provide information on the history of the Museum and its collections.
The reproductions are shown on a scale of 1:1, which means that, given the dimensions of the exhibition supports, only a magnificent and grandiose detail of the work can be shown of some of the large paintings, which can be seen in full on the explanatory poster.
Following the great success of the exhibition during the Museum’s Bicentenary celebrations, The Prado in the Streets began its tour of Castile-La Mancha on 13 July in Sigüenza, and over the next ten months it will travel to eight cities in Castilla-La Mancha. In addition to Sigüenza, Puertollano, Tomelloso, Ciudad Real and Toledo, Guadalajara, Cuenca and Talavera de la Reina will be able to enjoy the exhibition.

Through its Foundation in Spain, Iberdrola focuses one of its main areas of activity on cultural development, focusing on the care and maintenance of cultural and artistic wealth.
Thus, since 2010, Fundación Iberdrola España has been collaborating with the Prado Museum by supporting the conservation and restoration programmes carried out by the art gallery, as well as in the development of 4 annual scholarships for young restorers. It also wished to join the Extraordinary Programme for the Commemoration of the Bicentenary of the Prado Museum and, specifically, the deployment of this travelling exhibition in Spain.
Since 2011, Fundación Iberdrola has allocated a total of 13 million euros to the Art and Culture area, which focuses its resources mainly on the Restorations Programme, which supports the restoration workshops of leading museums for the conservation of their pictorial and artistic heritage; and the Lighting Programme, which includes the design, execution and financing of artistic lighting projects in unique buildings and monuments.
