A total of 40,000 trees have been planted on a military practice ground in Valladolid.

To conserve nature and protect the environment, we have replanted a military area known as Campo de Maniobras y de Tiro militar Renedo-Cabezón in Valladolid province with more than 40,000 trees. This 50 hectare area has been replanted with 80% resin pines and 20% holm oaks which will help to absorb up to 1,900 tons of CO2.

Fundación Iberdrola España has spent two months working on the first reforestation in the Iberdrola Forest Defence Plan. This entailed an investment of 140,000 euros and the recruitment of 45 people from local Valladolid companies, who will also maintain and irrigate the trees.

Initiatives to protect the environment

We have signed a letter of intent with the Ministry of Defence and the General Infrastructures Directorate to carry out joint initiatives to improve, protect and conserve the environment in different areas. One of our objectives is the reforestation of military practice grounds owned by the ministry, with the commitment of carrying out one every year in different regions.

The Renedo Cabezón reforestion project is Iberdrola’s first Forest Defence plan.
