• The traveling exhibition extends its tour to offer in the streets of the eight provinces a representation of the most significant paintings of the national gallery
  • The collaboration, signed this morning with the Ministry of Education, will include this initiative in its program for educational innovation “Living and Feeling the Heritage”

Andalusia welcomes in its provincial capitals the exhibition ‘El Prado en las Calles‘, organized by the Museo Nacional del Prado and Fundación Iberdrola España, with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education of Andalusia. The exhibition will bring to Andalusians 50 of the most important works of the Permanent Collection of the art gallery through life-size photographic reproductions.

The collaboration between the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Education and the Fundación Iberdrola España aims to include the exhibition as an educational resource of the Program for Educational Innovation “Vivir y Sentir el Patrimonio”, which promotes the knowledge and understanding of the historical, artistic, ethnographic, scientific and technical values of cultural assets.

The collaboration agreement was signed this morning in a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Education, Patricia del Pozo; the president of the Iberdrola Foundation Spain, Fernando Garcia and the delegate of Iberdrola in Andalusia, Antonio Fernandez. The entities thus reinforce their objective of promoting the dissemination of historical and cultural heritage among the general public.

Starting in Seville this September, the exhibition will travel to the provinces of Cordoba, Jaen, Granada, Almeria, Malaga, Cadiz, and Huelva in the coming months. Curated by Ana Moreno Rebordinos, General Education Coordinator of the Prado Museum, this large open-air exhibition offers life-size reproductions of the Prado’s permanent collection and allows visitors to learn about the history of Spain, Europe, and Western art through the great masters of painting.

Since it began its journey in Spain in 2020, ‘ El Prado en las Calles’ has accumulated a large number of visitors in its various locations in Castilla La-Mancha, Castilla y León, and Extremadura.

Fundación Iberdrola España, Protector member of the Prado Museum

Fundación Iberdrola España develops one of its main lines of activity around the care and maintenance of the cultural and artistic riches of our country.

It has been collaborating with the Museo del Prado since 2010 by supporting the conservation and restoration programs of the art gallery, as well as in the development of 4 annual scholarships for young restorers. It also wished to join the Extraordinary Program for the Commemoration of the Bicentenary of the Museo del Prado and, specifically, the deployment of this traveling exhibition in Spain.

Since 2011, Fundación Iberdrola España has allocated a total of 13 million euros to the area of Art and Culture, which focuses its resources mainly on the Restorations Program, which supports the restoration workshops of leading museums for the conservation of their pictorial and artistic heritage; and the Illuminations Program, which includes the design, execution, and financing of artistic lighting projects in unique buildings and monuments.
