- Promoted by Fundación Iberdrola España, the exhibition offers the most relevant works of the national museum to the public in the green heart of the city.
- The exhibition continues the tour that began in 2020 by different emblematic territories in Spain and will travel through the eight provincial capitals in the coming months
Fundación Iberdrola España brings to the capital of Andalusia the great outdoor exhibition “El Prado en las Calles“, installed in the Jardines de Cristina where it can be visited until November 5.
José Luis Sanz, Mayor of Seville; Patricia del Pozo, Councilor for Educational Development and Vocational Training; Andrés Úbeda, Deputy Director of the Prado Museum; and Fernando García, President of the Iberdrola Spain Foundation, visited the exhibition this morning on its first day on display.
In addition, the Ministry of Educational Development and Vocational Training of Andalusia and the Iberdrola Foundation Spain are collaborating in the inclusion of the exhibition as an educational resource of the Program for Educational Innovation “Vivir y Sentir el Patrimonio”, which aims to promote knowledge and understanding of the historical, artistic, ethnographic, scientific and technical values of cultural assets.
This exhibition will allow visitors to tour the different schools that make up the permanent collection of El Prado and learn about the history of Spain, Europe, and Western art through the great masters of painting. The 50 works include Spanish, Italian, Flemish, French, French, German, and Dutch schools, from the 12th century to the early 20th century, including works by Velázquez and Murillo, illustrious sons of the city of Seville.
With its opening in Seville this September, the exhibition will resume its itinerancy through Andalusia and in the coming months will travel to the provinces of Cordoba, Jaen, Granada, Almeria, Malaga, Cadiz, and Huelva. Curated by Ana Moreno Rebordinos, General Education Coordinator of the Prado Museum, this large open-air exhibition offers life-size reproductions of the Prado’s permanent collection and allows visitors to learn about the history of Spain, Europe, and Western art from the great masters of painting.
Since it began its journey in Spain in 2020, ‘El Prado en las Calles’ has accumulated a large number of visitors at its various sites in Castilla La-Mancha, Castilla y León, and Extremadura.
