- The Opportunities and Entrepreneurship Fair hosted the second presentation of these awards.
Badajoz, 12.05.2023
Iberdrola, through its Foundation in Spain, and Ayuda en Acción have presented the second edition of the awards for young students and their entrepreneurial ideas. The initiative is part of the program ‘Breaking barriers for youth employment and energy transition in Extremadura’, through which 300 participants from 17 Vocational Training degrees have already passed in 2023.
“Breaking Barriers” aims to bring business reality closer to Vocational Training students and introduce them to sectors and niches with a high demand for employment, such as those related to energy, energy transition, and sustainability. In addition to offering students support and motivation to continue their studies, the program aims to highlight the work of all participants and recognize the best entrepreneurial initiatives.
Three entrepreneurial projects in the categories of innovation, sustainability, and creativity have been awarded in the Fair of Opportunities and Entrepreneurship of Badajoz organized by the Institutes of Secondary Education (IES) San José and San Roque. Specifically, the initiatives are related to the creation of tires with 3D printers, the collection and reuse of used cigarette butts, and the creation of fuel from animal excrement.
The winners received their diplomas from Fernando García, president of Fundación Iberdrola España, Verónica de la Cruz, head of the Ayuda en Acción project, and Ricardo Carrasco, principal of IES San José.
This recognition is in addition to that already held a few weeks ago at the Javier García Téllez Secondary School (IES) in Cáceres, where three other initiatives related to recycling and waste collection projects, air conditioning of public transport shelters and the installation of renewable energies in homes were awarded prizes.
During 2023, the participants in the program also have visits and workshops to explain the employment opportunities in the green economy sector and the profiles in demand, mainly in the higher and intermediate vocational training groups, organized by Fundación Iberdrola.
Fundación Iberdrola España and training
Since its creation, Iberdrola has been committed to the energy, cultural, educational, and social development of the communities in which it is present. In this regard, Fundación Iberdrola España represents a further step in this commitment by promoting initiatives that contribute to improving people’s quality of life.
Furthermore, as part of Iberdrola’s commitment to excellence in training, Fundación Iberdrola España collaborates with scholarship programs of various institutions such as the Fulbright Commission, which each year calls for Iberdrola-Fulbright scholarships; the Fundación Carolina, which has a program for Mexican and Brazilian students; and the restoration workshops of the Museo Nacional del Prado and the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, which allow future specialists to complete their training in the conservation and restoration programs of these institutions.
