- Fundación Iberdrola España and Cáritas Diocesana de Cartagena collaborate in the project “Red de Atención a la Infancia en la Región de Murcia”
- Funding of €40,000 from Fundación Iberdrola España will help 271 children and their families at risk of exclusion in the municipalities of Cartagena, Jumilla, Torre Pacheco and Cehegín
The Red de Atención a la Infancia de Cáritas in the Region of Murcia is an initiative that has been in existence for 50 years. This project aims to mitigate the effects of child poverty and its consequences in absenteeism and school dropout, developing motivational actions, reinforcement and leisure with children, and accompaniment and involvement of families in the socio-educational process of their children.
The specific objectives are:
- To favor the participation of families at risk of social exclusion in the socio-educational processes of their children.
- To encourage children’s motivation towards the educational community to reduce absenteeism, prevent early school failure, and promote meaningful learning.
- Promote the social inclusion of children and the reconciliation of family and work life of their families through recreational, sporting, and cultural activities.
- Strengthen coordination with public and private entities in the area.
- To disseminate knowledge, analysis, and awareness of the rights of children and adolescents at risk of social exclusion.
- Promote the integral protection of children, as well as the inclusion of the gender perspective.
- Promote the bridging of the digital divide.
Visit to the Cáritas Day Care Center in Cehegín, Murcia.
This project is aimed at improving the lives of 271 minors in the municipalities of Cartagena, Jumilla, Torre Pacheco, and Cehegín who are vulnerable, at risk and/or socially excluded, with a high rate of school failure, and whose family environment presents chronic social problems.
During the visit, it was possible to visit the day center of Cehegín and share the experience of the students and educators who have training activities in the afternoon.
