Sevilla, January 25th, 2022.
Iberdrola, through its foundation, has signed an agreement with Fundación Museo del Ejército to replace and renovate the interior and exterior lighting of the Capitanía General de Sevilla. The initiative will involve an investment of 120,000 euros. The new lighting will enhance the architecture and artistic elements of the building.
The managing director of Fundación Museo del Ejérctio, Francisco Ramos Oliver, and the director of the Fundación Iberdrola España, Ramón Castresana, signed the agreement this morning in a ceremony also attended by the president of the Fundación Iberdrola España, Fernando García Sánchez, and the lieutenant general commander of the Army, José Rodríguez García.
The project will include the renovation of the ornamental lighting on the façade of the headquarters of the Capitanía General of Sevilla, located in Plaza Ejército Español. As well as the renovation of the general lighting of the hall, the stained-glass window, and the auditorium stage.
Thanks to this agreement, the Fundación Iberdrola España will install the most advanced LED technology, which will reduce energy costs and CO2 emissions, as well as minimize maintenance work.
All of this will contribute to the enhancement of this building, which is listed as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) within the artistic-historical complex of the Plaza de España in Sevilla, at a time when the city is preparing for the centenary of the 1929 Exhibition, which led to the construction of this architectural complex.
Iberdrola, with the promotion of art and culture
One of Iberdrola’s main areas of action, through its foundation in Spain, focuses on the care, preservation, and enhancement of historical and artistic riches. The main objective of the Lighting Program is to develop interventions in unique buildings to install or improve their interior and/or exterior lighting systems to contribute to the enhancement of historical and artistic heritage.
Since 2011, it has allocated more than three million euros. This investment has led to improving more than 40 monuments in Spain. Of note are the works on the historic Roman Bridge of Alcántara, in Cáceres; the façade of the Supreme Court, in Madrid; the Cathedral of Palencia, or the interior of the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral.
