• The Iberdrola and Empieza por educar Foundations have signed an agreement to help train potential educational leaders in the classroom.
  • The project has a budget of 50,000 euros and aims towards students from socioeconomically vulnerable backgrounds.

Through its foundation in Spain, Iberdrola and Fundación Empieza por Educar signed an agreement today in Madrid to launch the STEM Scholarship program. A two-year program.

The general director of Fundación Empieza por Educar, Beatriz Morilla, and the director of Fundación Iberdrola España, Ramón Castresana, signed the agreement this morning. The event was also attended by Ilia Hernández, director of alliances of the Foundation Empieza por Educar and Teresa Rodríguez de Tembleque, head of the training and research area of the Fundación Iberdrola España.

The project, which required an investment of 50,000 euros, belongs to one of the main areas of activity of Fundación Iberdrola España: training and research to promote quality education.

The STEM program seeks to develop young graduates or professionals so they can have a positive impact on the education system. The goal is to create a more equitable system for all children in the country. The scholarship recipients will teach students from socioeconomically vulnerable backgrounds at an educational center.

The five scholarship recipients will conduct several workshops for high school and vocational training students at the center to work on different technological topics. Generally, these actions would be outside the school curriculum and are subjects that students from these schools would not normally have access to.

In this regard, Fundación Iberdrola España represents a further step in this commitment by promoting initiatives that contribute to improving people’s quality of life. It is also part of Iberdrola’s commitment to excellence in training.

Fundación Iberdrola España collaborates with scholarship programs of various institutions such as the Fulbright Commission, which each year calls for Iberdrola-Fullbright scholarships; Fundación Carolina, which has a program for Mexican and Brazilian students; and the restoration workshops of the Museo Nacional del Prado and the Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao, which allow future specialists to complete their training in the conservation and restoration programs of these institutions.
