- These collaborations aim to provide children with positive stimuli that motivate them to continue working hard on their treatments. Seeing these tiny wishes come true allows them to escape from their day-to-day lives.
The wish of David, 8 years of age, is to visit the wind farm he sees on the way out of Ronda, his place of residence, when he goes to the Maternity Hospital in Malaga to receive his treatment. He is fascinated by the “windmills” as he calls them, and his dream was to learn how they work and to meet the people who make it possible for their blades to turn.
After hearing his story, the Fundación Iberdrola España collaborated with the Fundación Pequeño Deseo to prepare a special day for David. In coordination with his parents, a visit to the Puerto de Málaga wind farm and the Altamira Operations Center was organized, where he made it clear that “he wants to become an engineer and fix windmills”.
Accompanied by the Foundation’s director, Ramón Castresana, and the engineers in charge of the wind farm’s maintenance, and wearing a custom-made uniform designed just for him, David had the opportunity to enter a wind turbine and learn how it works. On her part, Gracia Aparicio, head of the Pequeño Deseo Foundation, presented him with its symbol, the wand that allows wishes to come true.
These actions aim to provide the children with positive stimuli that motivate them to continue working hard on their treatments. Seeing these tiny wishes come true allows them to escape from their day-to-day lives and get away from it all.

Fundación Pequeño Deseo
The Fundación Pequeño Deseo’s mission is to fulfill the wishes of those children and young people between the ages of 4 and 18 who suffer from a serious illness and spend long periods of time undergoing harsh treatments. The Fundación considers that they need some illusion to create positive feelings and emotions to help them evade themselves from their daily lives.
Wishes would give these children stimulation, motivation, and happiness. Fundación Pequeño Deseo works with each child to encourage them to dream and show their greatest illusion, with the help of trained and prepared child psychologists. The whole process is kept a secret from the child to increase the illusion. The objective is to make illusion and joy part of the treatment. Today, the organization has managed to fulfill 5882 wishes. Its motto: “sometimes fulfilling a child’s wish is their best medicine“.
