Through its Social Aid Programme, Fundación Iberdrola collaborates with ASPRODEMA, a La Rioja-based organisation which has been promoting and supporting people with intellectual disabilities and their families since 2015. Since then, it is estimated that more than five hundred people have directly benefited from these projects, which are supported by the company.

The joint project with ASPRODEMA includes various services and programmes conducted by the organisation to promote and provide support to people with intellectual disabilities and their families

At a meeting this morning at ASPRODEMA’s headquarters in Logroño, the director of Fundación Iberdrola España, Ramón Castresana; Iberdrola’s delegate in La Rioja, Carlos Sobrino; and the vice president of ASPRODEMA, Vega Murugarren, highlighted the success of their work together in recent years and listed the initiatives that the two organisations will implement in 2018.

The joint project with ASPRODEMA includes various services and programmes conducted by the organisation to promote and provide support to people with intellectual disabilities and their families so that they can achieve their goals in life, giving them opportunities to take part in the community and be active citizens.

The aim is to provide, coordinate and organise a series of resources and support services for users of the Resource Support Centres in Logroño and Nájera, which effectively contribute to increasing their independence, social and labour integration and ability to lead independent lives to the fullest extent possible.

To do this, a series of activities will be carried out. They include information, guidance and counselling about economic benefits, services and official assessments; user evaluation and creation of individual care and life plan programmes; social/psychological interventions, training activities to improve personal and work skills; an employability plan, independent living support,; empowerment and family activities; awareness and social participation, etc.

The centres cater to 300 people with slight and borderline intellectual disabilities and their families who live in Logroño and the Rioja Centro and Rioja Alta areas. The project, which has been receiving support from Fundación Iberdrola since 2014, has a total investment of 160,000 euros and benefits more than 500 people.
