Iberdrola is working with Proyecto Hombre in the province of Cádiz in a programme for adolescents and families in Cádiz aimed at increasing their knowledge of the benefits and risks that the use of technologies entails. It is also designed to enhance the protection factors for individuals and family members that enable users to maintain a balanced relationship with technologies so that they do not interfere in proper individual, family and social development.

The Iberdrola Foundation is allocating 30,000 euros to this initiative, carried out through its Social Programme in the province of Cádiz from April to March 2019, and 2,200 people will benefit from it. These are mostly minors and adolescents from 12 to 21 years old and special attention is given to those with behavioural problems, those who abuse ITCs or whose use of them is problematic.
During the presentation of the project this morning at Jerez de la Frontera town hall, the director of the Iberdrola Spain Foundation, Ramón Castresana, the mayor of the town, Mamen Sanchez Diaz, and the director of Proyecto Hombre province of Cádiz, Luis Bononato, detailed the main objectives and actions of this programme.
The chosen educational format will be a two-hour training session for families and a four-session workshop of one hour each for adolescents, a theoretical and practical methodology is employed in which the technologies will be used as part of the pedagogical resources. The young people and their families will be given the tools and keys to face threats such as sexting, sextorsion, grooming or cyberbullying.
In this vein, the mayor, Mamen Sánchez, stressed that “we fully share the purpose of this agreement where the private initiative is turned into a social project to optimize resources by investing in a field of work as necessary as the responsible use of new technologies”. He also thanked Iberdrola for its work, “with which the company supports an established organization such as Proyecto Hombre in the field of attention to addictive behaviour”.
